Dr. Gareth Lagerwall

Dr Lagerwall is a young and energetic lecturer. He recently received his PhD from the University of Florida, USA, where he specialized in ecological modelling. He has work experience in the fields of precision agriculture and rural development. His position as a lecturer at UKZN has a focus towards mechanization, which he merges with his previous experience and expertise.

He is a board member of the KZN branch of the South African Institute of Agricultural Engineers (SAIAE), and registered as a candidate professional engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). He is heavily involved in promoting the discipline, from maintaining the website, to manning stands at agricultural shows, and presenting at the UKZN Winter School event.
